Musician tells fans not to stream her album

The ‘212’ hitmaker has accused her former label Prospect Park which she departed in 2015 over disagreements – of allegedly stealing all of the money she made from the 2014 LP, leaving her with just $15,000.

Azaelia Banks has told her fans to stop streaming her debut album, ‘Broke With Expensive Taste’, because she doesn’t earn any royalties from it.

The 29-year-old rapper is hoping to be able to create physical CDs from the master copy of the album in a bid to be able to pay back the producers who worked on the songs.

“Just whatever you do, do not stream the album. I am completely demoralized” says Azealia.

“I have the master drive and will figure out a way to press physicals so you can enjoy the music and I can pay the producers on it the royalties they have been waiting six years for,” she added

The ‘Anna Wintour’ star pleading with her fans not to stream the LP comes a month after she reached out to Ice Cube – who is a business partner of Jeff’s in the basketball league Big3 – to ask him to try and use his “influence” to persuade Jeff to hand over the money she claims he owes her.

In a since-deleted tweet, she informed the hip-hop star: “Your white manager Jeff Kwatinetz has stolen all of the royalties from my debut album and I was wondering if you could use your influence to get them for me?

The controversial star also posted email exchanges with Jeff from 2014, in which he “reiterated” that he “would never take advantage” of his former client and that he puts “ethics” and his artists “first and foremost”.

Azealia had previously insisted she was unable to release new music until March 2016, due to her conflict with the label.

Sign Petition For Kylie Jenner to be ‘removed’ from ‘WAP’ video

A petition to remove Kylie Jenner from Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion’s music video for ‘WAP’ has been set up.

After Kylie Jenner made a cameo in Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s recent music video for their huge collab ‘WAP’, one angry fan has started a petition to get the star removed.

Kylie was allegedly caught up in a recent argument between Meg and Tory Lanez, with Megan later being shot in the foot, the user who started the petition claimed, “The video was perfect until we saw K and I wanted to throw my phone.”

The title of the petition is simply, ‘Remove Kylie Jenner from WAP video’ and after being live for just three days it has already gained over 65,000 signatures.

People signing the petition have revealed they’re doing so for varied different reasons, with some labelling Kylie a culture vulture, whilst Cardi B was forced to deny racial bias around Kylie’s cameo.

Writing as they signed the petition, one person said, “She ain’t need to be in there PERIOD” whilst another added, “Why is she the one getting away with stealing culture? Why is she the icon that most girls look up too? We need somebody who’s real in the video not fake.”

Kylie, Cardi and Megan have remained silent on the petition so far but given the rate at which it’s gathering signatures, it wouldn’t be a surprise if one of them acknowledges it soon.

Buju Banton Receives RIAA Gold Album Certification

The blessings keep flowing in for veteran dancehall artiste Buju Banton as following his 47th birthday, which he celebrated yesterday July 15, he will be receiving an RIAA certified Gold album for ‘Til Shiloh today, July 16.

‘Til Shiloh reached the RIAA Gold Status (500,000 units sold) on September 27, 2019.

On Saturday, July 18, Gargamel will also celebrate the 25th anniversary of the album that helped pave the way for conscious dancehall in Jamaica and throughout the Caribbean. An album whose songs still play in clubs and on the airwaves throughout the region.

Some of the songs on the album are considered timeless by dancehall fans who still can sing word for word songs like Til I’m Laid to Rest, Not An Easy Road, Murderer, and Champion.

Buju’s fans from around the world, including Jamaica, will get an opportunity to watch the stalwart get his award via YouTube Live. Also in attendance will be some members of his label, including UMG executives Bruce Resnikoff, President & CEO, UMe, in Los Angeles, and Darcus Beese, President, Island Records in New York.

From the RIAA, Chairman, CEO Mitch Glazier and RIAA Chief Operating Officer Michele Ballantyne in Washington, D.C. will be in attendance as well. The ceremony will be broadcasted via Buju’s official YouTube channel starting at 5 pm Jamaican time.

“My music is an embodiment. A total embodiment of who I am: my perspective, my griefs, how I feel within,” Banton told Okayplayer in 2020. “I am merely a vessel. A servant. And this is my offering. Wholeheartedly.”

It is indeed quite an achievement for Buju, whose real name Mark Myrie, who has consistently delivered a brand of dancehall that is uplifting and which also seeks to address the tough issues that Jamaica and the world are facing. It must be even sweeter for him as a free man considering that just two years ago he was still incarcerated in the US on drug-trafficking charges.

Something that has not held him back but seemed to add more fuel to his fire. He recently released Upside Down 2020, which is his 13th studio album and is performing well on reggae and dancehall charts. His unique baritone voice and heavily 90s infused beats remain a winning formula for the Wanna Be Loved singer.

‘Til Shiloh was Buju’s stamp of authority on conscious dancehall and remains an almost perfect album as every song made the reggae charts after release.

Buju, who is the youngest of 16 children first introduced himself to Jamaica with Stamina Daddy. He would soon follow that up with anthems such as his Batty Rider and Love Me Browning.

The name ‘Til Shiloh, was carefully chosen as it means “forever,” and reflected the oath that Buju promised to the Rastafarian faith.

‘Til Shiloh has come in for high raise from international critics like The Village Voice’s Robert Christgau, who awarded the album an A-minus, as “the most fully accomplished reggae album since the prime of Black Uhuru.”

Since his full-time return to music Buju has sold out stadiums throughout the Caribbean with his Long Walk to Freedom in 2019. Fans from all around the world will be tuning in to see the veteran deejay get his due reward.

Kendall Jenner Convinced Kourtney Kardashian Hasn’t ‘Dealt With’ Scott Disick Split

Kendall Jenner doesn’t think Kourtney Kardashian has “dealt with” her split from Scott Disick.

The 40-year-old reality star dated the Talentless founder – with whom she has Mason, 10, Penelope, seven, and Reign, five – on and off for almost a decade between 2006 and 2015, and her younger sister Kendall has said that despite their final breakup taking place five years ago, she doesn’t believe Kourtney has properly come to terms with their split.

Speaking on ‘Keeping Up with the Kardashians’, 24-year-old Kendall told Scott: “I’m just saying, I think that whole situation might’ve mentally f***ed her and I don’t think she dealt with it.”

Scott, 36, denied Kendall’s theory, but insisted he’s always going to be supportive of his former partner regardless of their differences.

The ‘Flip It Like Disick’ star – who is now in a relationship with Sofia Richie – responded: “I think Kourtney, for a very long time, has felt really misunderstood and a lot of people feel like she’s being rude, but I know she means well. And you just gotta see that through her and it’s kind of hard sometimes. But I do know that she wants to be on good terms with everybody. It just doesn’t always come out that way.”

The conversation comes after Kourtney got into a physical altercation with her sister Kim Kardashian West, 39, during last week’s episode of their E! reality show, which left Kim bleeding.

And this week, Kim revealed family matriarch Kris Jenner “cried” after seeing the fight play out on TV, and confirmed Kourtney has decided to take a break from filming the show.

Kim said: “She’s made the decision to take time off now, and I think she really needs it. I think that’ll be so much better for her.”
