“She stole my work,” Victoria Kimani after Beyoncé praised Kenyan jeweller

Beyoncé Knowles just co-signed a Kenyan artist and jeweller by the name Theresia Kyalo. The gesture of flower-giving by Bey Hive’s leader happened through Beyoncé listing the 24-year-old Kenyan jewel designer via her website on the ‘Directory of Black Owned Businesses’ on the latest Black Parade column section.

There’s a fine line between imitation, inspiration, and influence in the creative world. Anyway this is not the case with Kenyan songstress Victoria Kimani.

She found out there are just no rules in the jungle when fast-rising American R&B singer Summer Walker ruthlessly left her ranting and crying for help on social media platforms after the latest album cover of Summer’s new project “Life on Earth” highly resembled that of her debut album “Safari”, shot by Kenyan photographer Clement Kiragu.

“Great minds think alike?” Kimani captioned images on her Instagram, which showed both covers, and the concepts that were swindled from her. She went on to share her distaste of the incident. “There is not much to say about it, the resemblance of the work speaks for itself. Unless there was a very rare chance two musicians from two different parts of the world and their photographers had the same idea for their art cover; one team having done it four years ahead of the other,” Kimani said that her stuff gets ‘borrowed’ all the time. “It’s crazy, an inspired image isn’t half as bad as a ‘borrowed’ song, those are the ones I can’t stand,” she said.

Do you think her allegations are valid?

Tanasha Donna & Ringtone Apoko on forced quarantine for hosting a birthday party

Kenyan artistes, Tanasha Donna and Ringtone were placed in forced quarantine after details emerged of a house party the two attended.

City magnate, Tim Matiba had invited the Kenyan model to make an appearance and later perform at his birthday party on Good Friday.

A party that was held along Mombasa road and one that went late into the night. It streamed live on Instagram and Facebook, with many joining in.

On her Instagram story, Mama Naseeb Junior shared a photo of herself driving in pitch darkness along Nairobi’s roads captioning:

NAIROBI on a Friday night, who would’ve thought?

Controversial artist, Ringtone Apoko was also in attendance.

Taking to his Instagram, the singer posted:

🙏🙏🙏A man of God meating a woman of God who is very polite with pure heart @tanashadonna 👌👌👌

Kenya’s government put in place a curfew between 7pm and 5 am in order to help curb further spread of Coronavirus.

Social events and gatherings had been completely banned to observe social distancing. Stern measures were out in place for anyone who defied the directives.

However, Tim Matiba’s birthday celebrations seemingly flouted the government rules. It disregarded social distancing, lack of protective masks and extending beyond stipulated curfew hours.

It emerges that all who were in attendance at the said event were put in forced quarantine, risking being charged thereafter.

Also, the individuals have been placed under forced quarantine at their own cost.
